Branding and art direction Branding and art direction for the Spanish
publisher Editorial Mapa

Mapa is a new publishing house for contemporary fiction. A house focused on mapping contemporary culture and conflict on a broad geographical and literary range.

The branding of mapa starts on the covers of the books and springs out to logotype, website and social media: The 5 basic colours colour-code are the only hint at a traditional political map that are going to be used indistinctively in the covers of the books.

The images used in the back covers arise from hours searching in vast image-archives and give a counter-narrative to the text rather than illustrating it.

Hello! My name is David Molina Gadea, i’m a graphic designer with a focus in book design. My work springs from a deep interest in the history of art and the relationship between images and text. I am also an enthusiast photographer and the artistic director of LA NUU, international photography festival of Rubí, Barcelona.
